I saw this event on instagram and because the two largest fandoms there were Lord of the Rings and Star Wars my boyfriend Walter and I had to go! Even though I only had about half a week to 3D print/make/assemble/paint our costumes I think I was able to pull it off just fine! Because I had such a tight window for our costumes, all of the metal pieces you see are from the fantastic online collection of free models bambu labs has access to! I can't sing the praise of their printers hard enough because they are incredibly user friendly and are so easy to repair/replace parts of. I really reccomend attending this expo because the venue is extremely well kept and airconditioned. Unlike anime expo in LA, this expo has all the draws and star studded cast of a major convention but never felt overly crowded, understaffed, messy, or overstimulating. If there was anything there that could have used improvement it was likely the vendors because a lot of what was present was dropshipped and lazily 3d printed only to be marked up 1000%. Bottom line if I can print it with zero effort at home or find it on ali express for 4 dollars it has no business being on a convention floor for 40 dollars or higher. The highlights of the trip were how many wonderful and enthusiastic fans were there (especially in awesome costumes), meeting Elijah Wood, and getting a signed print from The Regular Show cast since they were the backbone of my childhood. I would love to come back next year and I'm already thinking of how epic our costumes will be!!!
